Our Staff!

You can't have a great camp without a great staff, and we've got one! These seasoned veterans will be setting the tone for this first year program.

Check it out:

Steve Curley
serves as the director of the camp. He brings 40 years of experience to our programs as is also the director/owner of the All-Cape Rookie Camp and the internationally-known Red Auerbach Basketball School. Steve spent 20 years as a teacher and coach in public education and an equal amount of time in the sports industry. Steve really cares about young people and his leadership, expertise and prior experience have all contributed to the great reputation the camps have earned.

Don Grimes:
Don has earned a new position at the camp. He has moved up the ranks over the years from coach to Commissioner to a Program Director and is now the Associate Director working alongside the Director.  Don retired as head coach of Medway High School to give full time to his position as the School’s Intervention Officer and to officiating on both the high school and college levels. He is also the program director at the Red Auerbach Basketball School and will be the main man at the All Cape Camp directing staff and players during both sessions. He is a knowledgeable Basketball man and more than willing to share!

Satch Sanders
Tom "Satch" Sanders will be joining us again at both sessions of the Hoop Group Camps! A graduate of NYU, he was drafted to the Boston Celtics where he played for thirteen years. He is the proud owner of eight championship rings from his playing days and is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame!. Satch played and coached at both the college and pro level and also spent time working for the NBA. His number 16 has been retired and is proudly displayed at the Boston Garden as a symbol of his greatness as a Celtic. He is bright and witty and will make camp interesting and lots of fun!

Alik Taylor

Alik is a resident of Hyannis on Cape Cod were he is a very respected Director of Alternative Learning at Barnstable High School. He was formerly Head Women's Coach at Dennis-Yarmouth High School and is now the Head Coach at Harwich High School. At the Auerbach school, Alik runs the College Division as well as directing the game officials. Alik will be heading up the Pro division in both sessions this summer. He is a tremendous motivator and a great camp person who is willing to pass along his basketball knowledge to all campers.

Tony Romano:
Tony is a coach’s coach.  He is a very experienced basketball person. Tony retired from coaching at University of MA, Lowell in order to move into administration at the high school level.  Now retired as principal at Tewksbury High School, he is a assigner of officials in basketball on the state level, and a great basketball resource of the game for all our coaches.

Kip Jones
K.C. Jones III (Kip):
Kip"s playing career is highlighted by being a former Merrimack Valley all-star from Andover High School and recipient of a full scholarship to Bentley College where over 4 years he averaged nearly a 60% shooting average. Kip is an experienced Coach and Counselor as well as a licensed NBA sports agent. He does color commentary for the Springfield Armor in the NBA Development league. He has a passion for the game and for sharing his knowledge with young people. He is a tremendous asset to our camp program.

Matty Grimes:
Matty is the special assistant to the Camp Director.  A graduate of Keefe Technical Vocational High School in Framingham, MA.,  Matt holds numerous Gold Medals for basketball in the Special Olympics.  Matt has been Shanghai, China and competed in the International Special Olympics.  He was the only Olympian chosen in all of New England.  Don’t challenge Matt to a 3 point contest, he is tough!!! Matty competed at half time at the Boston Garden where he sank three 3-pointers in a row and absolutely brought down the house!! If you enjoy the Gatorade and the popsicles and clean pinnies daily, thank Matty who does all the behind the scenes work.
