Steve & Red go one-on-one
Steve Curley, School Director

Steve was with the Auerbach School when it first began in 1960. He brings years of camp experiences. Steve has directed the All Cape Hoop Camps with K.C. Jones and Satch Sanders as well as the Maine Red Claws Academy in Portland, ME. He has a particular knack for programming and has worked hard to create the challenging programs offered at camp intended to make our campers better for having attended. He spent 18 years as a teacher/coach in public education and 20 years as an executive in the sporting goods industry. If you have been to a Curley directed camp you know that he truly cares about young people not only on the court but as an advocate for education and strong academic achievements. His enthusiasm and expertise has helped him to attract quality personnel who share his philosophies and dedication to the Red Auerbach Basketball School.
You can reach Steve at the following address: info@superhoopcamps.com

Key Administrative Staff

    Don Grimes Don Grimes

After having served as a coach and commissioner at camp, Don is our Program Director heading up our daily programming and keeping things on schedule. He retired as Head Coach at Medway High School to give more time to his position as the town of Medway school intervention officer. He is also a licensed board official officiating games in the ECAC Conference. In his spare time he is the lead person assigning officials in the Tri Valley League. Then in the rest of his time, he is committed to Special Olympics where his son Matt is a champion competitor. Don is respected by staff for his knowledge of the game and his willingness to help. Players had best be nice to Donnie, since you never know if he may be doing one of your games this year!

    Darnell MyersDarnell Myers
Everyone that has ever been to the Red Auerbach School knows and remembers Darnell. He is a strong and outspoken personality and he is the spirit of the camp, loved by staff and players. He has been with the school for over 25 years and is currently the commissioner of the Pro Division. Darnell was an Assistant to John Thompson at Georgetown University, and is now a varsity and J.V. coach at Springbrook High School in Maryland. His teams have been Number 1 or have challenged for Number 1 in the State for many years, a surprise to none of us that are aware of his knowledge of the game and his level of intensity.

    Alik Taylor
    Alik Taylor
Alik is a resident of Hyannis on Cape Cod where he is the Director of the Alternative Learning program at Barnstable High School. He is also the Head Varsity Coach for The Lady Rough Riders of Harwich High School. Alik is a certified high school basketball official, which qualifies him to direct our game officials at camp. He is the Director of the Cape Cod Eclipse AAU program on the Cape that features many athletes who have gravitated to Alik's program due to his well-earned reputation for the game of basketball. Alik has been part of our program for many years and was part of the inaugural All Cape Camps when they started 15 years ago.

    Pete Cavari
    Pete Cavari

Pete comes to us from Ft. Lauderdale, FL Where he coached multiple sports on the Varsity level until becoming a high school administrator. He is now retired from South Plantation High School but not before he earned the distinction of being the winning-est baseball coach in the entire state. Pete is a great stats guy and serves as our program coordinator and schedule master. However, is real claim to fame is that he was Steve Curley's college roommate. Don't even think about asking how long ago!!!
